sedation dentistry in Menlo Park and palo alto

Some of our patients prefer to have their dentistry done while sedated, perhaps because they have a lot of work or because they are nervous about dental procedures based on past experiences with other dentists. We are happy to help by offering a complete range of sedation dentistry, from Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Analgesia to complete General Anesthesia.

Our dental office works closely with local anesthesiologists, Oral Surgeons, Periodontists and other specialists at the top of their fields to coordinate the best dental care for your need and comfort.

Sedation Dentistry

Going to the dentist can be a frightening experience for some individuals; yet, it is something that everyone must do. You will be able to overcome your worries and undergo any necessary dental treatment, allowing you to retain excellent oral health. Patients can benefit from sedation dentistry for a stress-free experience throughout a range of dental procedures.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us at Marisa Walker, DDS if you have any questions about whether sedation dentistry is best for you. We can make your dental visit less stressful by providing a variety of choices to help you relax throughout all of your dental procedures.

Inhaled Minimal Sedation (using nitrous oxide)

A mask is put over the patient’s nose and a mixture of nitrous oxide (commonly known as “laughing gas”) and oxygen is administered. It is possible to inhale the gas. The quantity dental sedation you get will be carefully administered and controlled by your dentist.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is when your dentist prescribes a sedative for you to take one hour before your procedure. This sedation will put you to sleep, and your dentist will decide on the dosage and whether you need mild or moderate sedation.

Intravenous Moderate Sedation (IV)

A sedative will be injected straight into your vein, resulting in a more profound level of sedation than the other two alternatives.
